Throughout your time diving underwater and serving meals in this indie game, you’ll eventually come across a certain side quest. This will require you to figure out where to find Agar in Dave the Diver.
The ‘Red Ecological Data’ quest will ask that Dave finds two Red Starfish, and two Agar. Like I was, you may be stuck on this quest trying to find where the Agar is.
Dave the Diver: Agar location
Once you know where to find Agar in Dave the Diver, you’ll be kicking yourself for ever missing it. The Agar is located pretty much south of where you first dive, less than 50 meters underwater. If you check your tasks, you’ll notice that Agar is a plant. My first mistake was thinking Agar was a type of fish, until I noticed you can see pictures of the item you’re searching for.
As soon as you get into the Blue Hole, dive straight down. Agar looks like a red type of algae plant. There are a few spots to find Agar here. One location is below an Escape Pod. There, you should see two Agar plants.

Another spot, which is the first one I found, was about 40 meters below surface. They were below an Oxygen Tank and a weapon case. Watch out for three angry fish nearby this set of Agar.
To collect the Agar, cut it with your melee weapon by pressing “Left-click’ on your mouse. On every other dive, new Agar should respawn, usually in a pair. The good thing to remember is that they only spawn around 1-50 meters below surface.
Once you find those, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding them in the future. For example, you’ll need to find five Agar for your ‘Ecology Research’, and it’s required for certain recipes.
