The War Within introduces many new quests centered on the new Khaz Algar region. While most of these quests are pretty straightforward, some have weird interactions that complicate completing objectives. Slay the Goo Save the World is an excellent example of a simple quest that can confuse many players due to its unclear mechanics. Don’t worry though! This guide is here to help gamers fully complete this mission.

Slay the Goo, Save the World Walkthrough

The objective of the Slay the Goo Save the World quest is quite simple. It’s an Elite World quest that you can accept in the Azj-Kahet region and requires you to be at least level 80 to proceed. The whole task is situated in the Maddening Deep area.

You need to gain 50 stacks or more of Unseeming Shift, which you can get from Black Blood Extractor. Each extractor drops around five stacks of Unseeming Shift, but the bigger ones provide a larger amount. You can ideally hit the target in two spots. Here are areas where you can find Black Blood Extractor:

  • /way 66.51 84.39
  • /way 61.56 83.83

NOTE: Do not click or interact with the Harmonizing Instrument because it’ll reset your Unseeming Shift stack. Activating this object is the most common mistake many players make.

Another way to gain stacks is by standing in one of the pools of blood in the Maddening Deep. You get around five Unseeming Shifts every second, so be sure to stand on top of those puddles for 10 seconds. The only problem with this method is that you’ll also take damage while on the blood water, so make sure you have recovery items or spells available. Here is one location you can go to find a pool of blood:

You can find other Extractors scattered throughout, so if you still need to get a few stacks, take a stroll in the surrounding area. Once you’ve obtained 50 Unseeming Shift, you can move on to the next objective: kill three specific targets. It should be noted that you can only see these enemies once you have 50 or more stacks. Here are all the enemies you need to slay and their location:

  • Warped Sapling at /way 63.23 85.31
  • Aberrant Deepwalker at /way 65.29 87.99
  • Faceless One at /way 65.72 83.72

Note: If the targets are not in these locations, they’ve either been recently slain or you don’t have enough stacks of Unseeming Shifts yet. If you have over 50 stacks already and still can’t see them, it’s probably the former. Don’t worry though, they have a short respawn time. It’s a good idea to camp at their spawn points until they reappear.

Rewards for this Quest

  • 12,200 EXP
  • +25 Reputation with The General
  • +25 Reputation with The Vizier
  • +25 Reputation with The Weaver

You can also unlock the “The Unseeming” achievement by picking up 100 stacks of Unseeming Shift. You can also obtain other drops from this World Quest with the rarity depending on your Item Level and the type of item based on your current class.

Tips:

  • The target mobs die quickly, so it’s not a good idea to rotate between spawn points unless you’ve already killed the one you’re currently waiting for. Wait for them to respawn before moving on to the next target.
  • Do not leave the quest area. Doing so will introduce decay to your current stacks until they’re entirely depleted or until you return to the quest area.
  • You don’t need to kill your targets in order, so it’s highly advisable to start with and camp the one with the fewest players waiting on them.
  • Be careful around Harmonizing Instruments because some gamers have reported that clicking on them will remove your stacks.
  • Do not use abilities that nullify or cleanse harmful magical effects like Anti-Magic Shell and Divine Shield. It has been reported that these abilities remove your Unseeming Shift stacks.
  • If the targets still don’t appear after a while, try killing an elite in the nearby areas. Some gamers have reported that killing other elites may trigger their respawn after a certain period.
