NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 has sold over five million units since launching in September 2023, up from the four million-plus announced last August. Series co-creator and game director Ed Boon revealed this in a recent Twitter thread alongside recent data from Circana’s most-played PS5 games in the United States.
From the weeks ending December 14th, 2024, until January 4th, 2025, the fighting game ranked in the top 15. The numbers weren’t revealed, while it fell behind Sonic Frontiers in the week ending December 21st. However, the increased player count for the latter is likely due to joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on December 17th.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Kombat Pack 2 and Khaos Reigns expansion owners recently received early access to Conan the Barbarian, who goes live on January 28th for all players.
(4 of 7) With over 5 million games sold, seeing Mortal Kombat 1 still in the top 15 most played Playstation 5 games makes us very grateful to Mortal Kombat fans. Thanks for continuing to support NetherRealm Studios games! pic.twitter.com/1BvH5gVLOW
