Construction Simulator®  returned in a fourth entry back in May, introducing a wide range of exciting new features and improving on pretty much everything else. And now, cost is no barrier thanks to a brand new ‘Lite’ version you can check out for free.

This time, the action takes place in a fictional Canadian location so expect gorgeous scenery, with pine trees littering the landscape as you expand your urban sprawl.

In a first for the series, the whole game takes place on a huge map, broken down into three large areas. Each of these features campaign missions and special challenges. If you’ve played Construction Simulator® before though, you know the drill.

You take on one of over 100 construction jobs, getting behind the wheel of over 80 fully-licensed vehicles in the process. Construction vehicle buffs will recognise those by the likes of Caterpillar, Atlas, Bobcat, and many more.

Construction Simulator 4 offers cooperative multiplayer player mode, which sees you and a friend teaming up to share the load. Maik Flade, PR Manager at astragon, was keen to point out that this is “the first time in the history of the mobile series” that this is possible.

“More than ten extensive construction jobs can be tackled with a friend, requiring both players to collaborate on the construction site to complete challenging tasks,” Flade concluded.

That’s not all that’s new, either. Cockpit views have been given a total overhaul, and are far more detailed than before. Vehicle dashboards now look just like their real-life counterparts. There’s also a new construction task entirely: concrete pump works. It all adds up to far more realism than ever before.

Flade is keen to stress that “With Construction Simulator® 4, we aim to offer players new content in a fresh and unique location, enhancing the experience and continuing to meet the community’s expectations.”

Construction Simulator® 2 took place in a US setting, while the threequel ventured into Europe. This fourth entry stays in North America, but takes us to the land of the maple leaf. astragon was keen to take advantage of the Canadian landscape to offer an unparalleled visual experience in the fictional ‘Pinewood Bay’.

“The name itself hints at the setting, which features beautiful, expansive forests, a coastal area with a charming old fishing village, and a modern city,” Flade adds.

Flade is keen to point out that the new location isn’t just visual. There are gameplay changes, too. “All the new locations offer exciting construction jobs, each with unique challenges.”

We also mentioned that there are 80 vehicles available in this fourth entry. Series stalwarts will be quick to note that’s nearly double the 50 of the previous entry. As Flade notes, “Construction Simulator® 4 offers an even broader range of features.

“The diverse fleet of vehicles provides the right equipment to tackle a variety of construction challenges. Players can choose from cranes, excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, rollers, road construction machines, various transport vehicles, and much more.”

While there’s loads here for returning players, Construction Simulator 4®  makes for a perfect jumping off point thanks to an in-game instructor who teaches you the ropes. “He will guide you through the tutorial before you take over your own construction company. And later, you will get access to dedicated tutorial missions for each, and every machine type included in the game which will teach you how a machine works step by step.”

Sold? Well, head on over to the App Store or Google Play to check out Construction Simulator® 4 Lite for free. If you like what you play, you can unlock the full experience for a mere $5.
