Gamers who were thrilled about gaining access to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Beta have received a rude awakening. It turns out that the beta version is virtually unplayable, especially if you’re playing on PC.

This is quite concerning news, especially given that the full release for Black Ops 6 is set to launch on October 25th. Given the extent of these issues, you don’t need a crystal ball to realize Activision will likely fumble this one.

Like any other company, Activision used the beta phase to test some critical features. Unfortunately, as the game crashes constantly, this might be possible.

To make matters worse, many players have received inexplicable bans. The initial theory is that Ricochet’s anti-cheat system is in complete disarray, unable to differentiate between cheaters and legit players.

Speaking of cheating, all you need to do is check the following video to assess the current state of the beta:

The issues with the Ricochet system are especially concerning. Our team thought this new technology would end cheating in COD, but it seems we were dead wrong.

Let’s start by noting that some PC players are barely managing to enter the lobby. Some players have reportedly had to restart the game several times before being allowed in.

There are also cases where a specific map is malfunctioning, with several in-game event causing major glitches and crashes.

Players caught in the “Update requires restart” loop have the hardest time, as they can’t even access the game.

Aside from the previously mentioned crashes, Black Ops 6 Beta suffers from optimization issues. With many players mentioning that Modern Warfare 3 works better on lower configurations than this atrocity.

According to the Gamerant, these issues might stem from the Call of Duty HQ system. In other words, you probably wouldn’t have these issues if you logged into the game directly.

Unfortunately, this still doesn’t justify all the issues with Ricochet and the enormous number of cheaters.

The best advice we can give you is not to get your hopes up. The game will likely be glitchy upon launch (that is, if they manage to launch on time).
